There is no reason to ever be afraid
and then...suddenly I am
I panic, look around and
there is so much beauty around
and if I just simply don't belong?
Are there going to be no surprises?

surprises happen when you don't expect them. i guess you got the proof and a nice example how surprises work. you didn't show fear, you were part of the surprise and, using your own words:

suprise is how much you don't care about someone who made you feel new.
